An excursion to discover the region of Styria. Famous for its wine, its rich history and its hilly landscape. Suitable for all those who do not prefer crowded places.
We will start by discovering the city of Maribor, crossing its old part to get to the banks of the river Drava and thus reach the obligatory stop. The oldest vine in the world, survived floods and wars during its four centuries of life.
After a coffee or a refreshing drink, the journey continues towards Ptuj, the oldest city in Slovenia. The history of the city dates back more than 2,000 years ago during Roman times, when it was still called Poetoviana.
Crossing the bridge over the Drava River, we arrive at the old town center, from which we climb up to the castle. Ptuj Castle, which proudly dominates the Drava Valley in our days, has a beautiful museum inside. After the descent through the historical streets of the city finally a good lunch awaits us.
The last stop of this trip is the wine road of Jeruzalem. A small strip of land in Styria famous for its wines. The terraced vineyards, the old wine cellars, the picturesque landscapes and the traditional villages with narrow streets, are a real experience not to be missed, as well as the wine tasting that will be proposed.
