New Year’s Eve in Romania – a Festive Adventure You’ll Never Forget
Make this year’s New Year celebrations something special! Discover festive Romania, where medieval towns, imposing fortresses, and the stories of Transylvania blend with sparkling lights, local specialities, and a warm seasonal atmosphere.
On this five-day journey, we will explore elegant Timișoara, historic Alba Iulia, charming Sibiu, and picturesque Sighișoara, with an optional visit to the spectacular underground world of Turda Salt Mine. The highlight will be a gala New Year’s Eve dinner with entertainment, music, and drinks included, as we welcome 2027 together. A traditional Romanian dinner with drinks included will add another memorable culinary experience. Invite your loved ones and start the New Year with discovery, good company, and wonderful memories!
Day 1: Slovenia – Timișoara
Palaces, city squares, and festive charm in “Little Vienna”
We will set off eastwards in the early morning. Somewhere along the way, the sun will greet us, and by the afternoon we will arrive in Timișoara, one of Romania’s largest cities.
Its centre features numerous squares and beautiful parks, while its impressive architecture reflects the city’s important past. Its architectural character has even earned it the nickname “Little Vienna”.
A walk through the old town will introduce us to its fascinating palaces, squares, and streets. We will make the most of the afternoon to enjoy the festive atmosphere.
Transfer to the hotel and check-in. Overnight stay.
Day 2: Timișoara – Alba Iulia – Sibiu
A star-shaped fortress and Transylvania’s festive treasures
We will continue to Alba Iulia, an important historic centre of Transylvania. The city’s defining landmark is the magnificent star-shaped Alba Carolina Fortress with seven bastions, built in the first half of the 18th century.
After sightseeing and some free time, we will continue towards Sibiu. This culturally and artistically rich city has a fascinating historic centre filled with palaces, churches, and squares. In 2007, it was a European Capital of Culture.
During the festive season, Sibiu is beautifully decorated and filled with market stalls. There will be opportunities to shop for small gifts and sample local specialities.
We will then travel to our planned accommodation at the 4-star Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Sibiu hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Sibiu – Sighișoara – Sibiu
Medieval stories and a gala celebration to welcome 2027
Today, we will travel to Sighișoara, a picturesque town in the heart of Transylvania whose historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We will stroll through the medieval town and admire its well-preserved historic character. We will enter the citadel through the famous Clock Tower, which dates back to the 14th century.
Sighișoara is also associated with Vlad III Dracula, the historical figure who later inspired the Dracula legend. We will see Casa Vlad Dracul, the house where his father, Vlad II Dracul, lived and where, according to tradition, Vlad III was born.
After sightseeing, there will be time for refreshments before we return to our hotel in Sibiu to prepare for New Year’s Eve.
We will celebrate at a restaurant with a varied entertainment programme, music, a gala dinner, and drinks included. When the clock strikes midnight, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2027!

Day 4: Sibiu – Turda – Sibiu
A leisurely brunch, an underground world of salt, and Romanian cuisine
We will enjoy a leisurely start to the morning. Brunch will be served, with a choice of hot and cold dishes.
After our late breakfast, we will continue to Turda, a picturesque town with a rich history, cultural heritage, and a famous salt mine. An optional visit to Turda Salt Mine, one of Transylvania’s best-known tourist attractions, will be available at an additional charge.
The former mine was excavated within extensive salt deposits formed after the evaporation of a sea that covered present-day Transylvania millions of years ago. Today, visitors are captivated by its vast underground chambers, combining mining history with modern visitor attractions.
After the visit, there will be time for refreshments before we return to our hotel in Sibiu. This evening, we will enjoy a traditional Romanian dinner with drinks included.

Day 5: Sibiu – Slovenia
Final impressions of the city and the journey home
After breakfast, there will be some free time in the city before we begin our journey home.
Our route will take us through Hungary towards Slovenia, arriving in the early evening.
