At the foot of the Pohorje mountain range, with its picturesque nature, lies the town of Maribor. Pohorje is a natural oasis at an altitude of 1543 metres, where extensive forests, including the Šumik primeval forest, clearings and pastures stretch out. It is criss-crossed by pristine streams, waterfalls and peat bogs with ponds.

O destinaciji

Pohorje je uglavnom šumovit, srednje visok planinski lanac južno od rijeke Drave u sjeveroistočnoj Sloveniji. Prema tradicionalnoj AVE klasifikaciji pripada Južnim vapnenačkim Alpama. Geološki, dio je Središnjih Alpa i obiluje silikatnim metamorfnim i magmatskim stijenama. Pohorje je rijetko naseljeno s raspršenim selima. Također se tamo nalaze neka skijališta. Pohorje je alpski planinski greben s kupolastim vrhovima južno od Drave. Otprilike se nalazi u trokutu koji čine gradovi Maribor (na istoku), Dravograd (na zapadu) i Slovenske Konjice (na jugu). Na sjeverozapadu ga ograničava rijeka Mislinja, na jugu Vitanjsko podolje, na istoku se spušta na Dravsko polje, a na jugoistoku na Podpohorske gorice. Proteže se oko 50 km od istoka prema zapadu i 30 km od sjevera prema jugu te pokriva površinu od oko 840 km2. Najviši vrhovi su Črni Vrh (Schwarzkogel na njemačkom) s 1.543 m, malo niži vrh Velika Kopa i Jezerski vrh, koji se uzdiže na 1.537 m. Šume pokrivaju više od 70% njegove površine.
