Puerto de la Cruz is a region situated on the north of the island of Tenerife. Declared of Tourist Interest in 1955, it brings together in attractive harmony both the traditional architecture of the island and the modernity. The coastal area contains several of the city's main attractions, such as the old harbor, the promenade and the Lago Martiánez complex of swimming pools designed by the Canary Islands architect César Manrique. Loro Parque is a zoo located on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz, where there is an extensive and diverse reserve of animal and plant species.
