Historic Towns and a New Year’s Party by the Sea

Say goodbye to the old year among picturesque streets, with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and views of the sea. On this five-day journey, we will combine lively Sarajevo, charming Mostar, and Herzegovina’s historic stone towns with a relaxing stay in Neum and festive celebrations.

At the planned Marea Hotel & Spa 4*, there will be time to unwind and enjoy some pampering, with an optional excursion to Dubrovnik. The highlight will be a lavish New Year’s Eve dinner with unlimited drinks, music, and dancing, as we welcome 2027 together. A visit to the Morlacco estate, including the Bura Museum and a tasting of local specialities, will provide a delicious finale. Invite your loved ones and start the New Year with good company, fascinating stories, and sea views!

Day 1: Slovenia – Sarajevo

Historic stories, bustling Baščaršija, and local flavours

We will depart in the morning by comfortable touring coach, travelling through Croatia towards Bosnia and Herzegovina. We expect to begin our sightseeing tour of Sarajevo in the early afternoon.

The city has been shaped by several important historical periods and events. We will learn about Ottoman rule, the year 1914, when Sarajevo was the scene of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the 1984 Winter Olympics, and the siege of the city during the war in the 1990s.

We will stroll through lively Baščaršija, passing the City Hall, Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, and other historic buildings.

The afternoon will offer time to experience the city’s atmosphere. Those who wish may enjoy local specialities at a traditional restaurant.

At the agreed time, we will continue to the hotel. Check-in and overnight stay.

Day 2: Mostar

The Old Bridge, craft workshops, and coffee with a view

After breakfast, our journey will continue to Mostar. We will stroll through its relaxed historic centre, with its minarets, shops, and craft workshops, walk down to the river, and return through the old Kujundžiluk bazaar to the upper town, where ćevapi served in flatbread await.

There will be time to browse for souvenirs, while coffee served from a traditional džezva pot will taste even better with a view of the famous Old Bridge. Built in 1566 by the Ottoman architect Hayruddin, the bridge was destroyed in 1993, subsequently rebuilt, and reopened in 2004.

In the afternoon, we will continue towards Neum and the planned Marea Hotel & Spa 4*. Hotel check-in and some free time.

Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Neum or an Optional Excursion to Dubrovnik

Seaside relaxation and New Year’s Eve celebrations until morning

We will begin the day with breakfast and coffee by the sea. You may spend the day relaxing, enjoying the indoor pool and wellness facilities as you wish.

Alternatively, join an optional excursion to Dubrovnik at an additional charge. We will stroll along Stradun and see the Franciscan Monastery with its historic pharmacy, the Church of St Blaise, Sponza Palace, the Rector’s Palace, the cathedral, and the harbour. There will also be time for coffee and a relaxing break on Stradun.

We will return to the hotel in the afternoon, with further free time before preparing for New Year’s Eve.

A lavish buffet dinner with unlimited drinks included – wine, beer, juices, and water – together with music and dancing will keep us celebrating into the early hours.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2027!

Overnight stay.

Day 4: Međugorje – Počitelj

A leisurely New Year’s morning and stone streets above the Neretva

Breakfast will not be too early today. There will be time for coffee before we depart at the agreed time for Međugorje, where we will enjoy a walk through the park and a visit to St James’ Church.

We will continue to Počitelj, a picturesque stone town overlooking the River Neretva. The settlement has changed over the centuries, with Ottoman rule, lasting from 1471 to 1878, leaving a particularly significant mark.

We will stroll through the town and take some time for refreshments before returning to the hotel. Further free time will be available for individual activities and socialising.

This evening’s dinner will offer another opportunity for good company and New Year dancing.

Overnight stay.

Day 5: Neum – Morlacco Estate – Slovenia

The story of the bora wind and a tasting of local specialities

After breakfast, we will say goodbye to Neum and continue towards Velebit. Above Jasenice, we will stop at the Morlacco estate and discover the fascinating story of the Bura Museum.

We will see the entrance to an old bauxite mine, an engaging presentation about the bora wind, and a wine-ageing area used by local winegrowers.

In the tasting area, we will sample local products, including brandy, Pag cheese, olive oil, wine, dry-cured ham, pancetta, and a local sweet treat. There will also be an opportunity to see the lavender field and perhaps purchase souvenirs in the estate’s small shop.

In the afternoon, we will continue towards Slovenia, arriving home in the evening.
