Roman Holidays and a Magical Winter Atmosphere

All roads lead to Rome – let yours take you on a four-day escape among magnificent ancient monuments, romantic squares, and lively Italian streets. The Eternal City invites you to enjoy walks filled with stories, pause over a fragrant espresso, and take time to soak up its unique atmosphere.

We will admire the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, and the landmarks of the Vatican, discover artistic treasures, and enjoy free time for independent exploration, shopping, and Italian cuisine. Festive decorations will add a special charm to December departures, while later dates offer a delightful winter getaway. Treat yourself to your own Roman holiday – as a couple, with friends, or with family.

Day 1: Slovenia – Rome

Following in the footsteps of Roman Holiday among famous squares and fountains

The old saying that “all roads lead to Rome” still holds true. Our journey will also take us to the Italian capital, where we will experience our first impressions of this remarkable city in the early afternoon.

We will stop at the famous Spanish Steps and briefly step back into the world of the classic film Roman Holiday. Our walk will continue to the renowned Trevi Fountain, before we make our way through Rome’s lively streets to the Pantheon, one of the best-preserved monuments of ancient Rome.

We will then continue to the picturesque Baroque square of Piazza Navona, where we will browse the stalls during the festive season.

There will be some free time for refreshments before we return to the coach and travel to our accommodation. Hotel check-in and overnight stay.

Day 2: Rome – Vatican City

A magnificent basilica, artistic treasures, and views over the Eternal City

Our second day will be devoted to Vatican City, the world’s smallest country and one of its most important religious and artistic centres. After an early breakfast, we will head to the magnificent St Peter’s Square and visit St Peter’s Basilica.

Those who wish may climb the dome, which offers wonderful views over Vatican City and Rome. An optional visit to the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel, Raphael Rooms, tapestries, and numerous other artworks, will also be available at an additional charge.

There will be time for refreshments and a walk to Castel Sant’Angelo, before we continue our afternoon enjoying the lively city atmosphere around the grand Piazza Venezia.

You may also choose to explore independently, or perhaps join an optional dinner at one of Rome’s restaurants at an additional charge.

Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Day 3: Rome

Ancient monuments and leisurely exploration of the Italian capital

Today will be devoted to the magnificent remains of ancient Rome and further exploration of the Italian capital. After breakfast, we will head into the heart of the ancient city to see the Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine, Capitoline Hill, and the Roman Forum.

We will also walk to the famous Mouth of Truth and pass the Theatre of Marcellus. Between sightseeing stops, there will be some time for refreshments or perhaps an independent visit to one of the monuments.

The afternoon will offer more time to wander through the city. Enjoy shopping, admiring elegant window displays, and soaking up the Italian capital’s winter atmosphere.

At an additional charge, we may once again visit a traditional Roman restaurant for dinner.

In the evening, we will return to the hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 4: Rome – Slovenia

Early Christian heritage and farewell to Rome

Before saying goodbye to Rome, we will visit two important early Christian landmarks. After breakfast, we will stop at the magnificent Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls and visit the underground Catacombs of St Callixtus.

After sightseeing, we will begin our journey home. While all roads may lead to Rome, ours will now take us back to Slovenia.

Arrival home is expected in the evening.
