Treat yourself to a winter escape with unmistakable Italian charm! Imagine strolling along cobbled streets, enjoying the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and taking a moment to slow down. As you explore, make time for a photograph, a treat from a local bakery, or a friendly chat over an aperitif.

This journey is for lovers of the Italian way of life: curious explorers, food enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys combining cultural discoveries with relaxed company. Invite your partner or friends and fill your winter days with new experiences, flavours, and wonderful memories.

Day 1: Slovenia – Bologna – Adriatic Coast

Beneath Bologna’s arcades and onwards to the south

In the morning, we will depart by comfortable touring coach, crossing the border at Fernetiči and travelling towards Venice before continuing to Bologna. The city is renowned for its distinctive covered arcades, known as porticoes, which give it a recognisable character in every season.

We will stroll along the main street to the grand city square, followed by some free time to sample a sandwich with traditional Bolognese mortadella or enjoy a refreshing aperitif.

After this pleasant start to our winter journey, we will continue towards Pescara and our accommodation. Hotel check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Trani – Bari

Coastal gems and discovering the capital of Puglia

After breakfast, we will travel towards Puglia and the picturesque town of Trani, one of southern Italy’s lesser-known gems. Rich in history, the town has connections with Emperor Frederick II and was once an important Apulian port.

We will stroll through the charming old town, passing its famous cathedral and castle. After a coffee break, we will continue to Bari, the capital of Puglia, where we will visit the Basilica of St Nicholas.

We will then enjoy the city’s festive atmosphere, browse the beautifully decorated stalls, and take some time for refreshments. Afterwards, we will travel to our accommodation. Hotel check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Alberobello – Locorotondo – Polignano a Mare

Fairytale trulli, whitewashed streets, and views of the Adriatic Sea

Today will be devoted to some of Puglia’s most iconic sights. After breakfast, we will begin by exploring Alberobello, famous for its distinctive trulli – traditional limestone buildings constructed using dry-stone techniques without mortar and recognised by their conical roofs. During the festive season, we will stroll through beautifully decorated streets and enjoy the town’s enchanting appearance.

Our next stop will be picturesque Locorotondo, whose name reflects the characteristic circular layout of its historic centre. Whitewashed houses, narrow streets, and charming little corners give it a special appeal throughout the year, while seasonal decorations bring an extra touch of magic during the festive period. The aroma of mulled wine and tempting snacks will invite us to pause along the way.

After our visit, we will continue to the popular seaside town of Polignano a Mare. Its compact historic centre, clifftop houses, and nearby beaches create a striking setting above the Adriatic Sea. The town is the birthplace of celebrated Italian singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno, who performed the world-famous song Volare.

There will be some free time for refreshments before we return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Altamura – Naples

From famous Apulian bread to Neapolitan pizza and nativity scenes

We will spend the morning in nearby Altamura, a town known for its impressive religious landmark and distinctive historic centre. After breakfast, we will stroll along stone-paved streets and past traditional courtyards before visiting the cathedral.

Altamura is also renowned for Pane di Altamura, a bread awarded Protected Designation of Origin status. There will be time for a good coffee and a taste of the local bread before we continue towards the Bay of Naples and vibrant Naples.

The city’s unique character lies in the energy of its streets, its rich history, and its strong culinary traditions, of which the famous Neapolitan pizza is an essential part.

During the festive season, we will discover another characteristic side of the city – its tradition of nativity-scene craftsmanship. We will stroll along the famous Via San Gregorio Armeno, known for its workshops and small shops selling nativity figurines. Festive lights, Christmas sweets, street performances, and local cuisine will complement our walk through the city.

In the evening, we will travel to the hotel. Check-in and overnight stay.

Day 5: Orvieto – Slovenia

Medieval charm to round off our journey

It will be time to say goodbye to southern Italy and head north towards Slovenia. After breakfast, we will begin our journey, stopping along the way in the picturesque medieval town of Orvieto.

Its historic centre is characterised by stone-paved streets, small squares, and charming corners, all crowned by its magnificent cathedral. We will walk to the cathedral and take some time for refreshments before continuing our journey home.

We will arrive at our original departure points in the evening.
